An old favorite whose brilliant trumpet-shaped flowers open in late afternoon, remain open all night and usually close before noon the next day. Remains open on cloudy days. Produces colorful blooms of white, shades of red, pink and yellow.
After danger of frost, sow seeds in open ground well exposed. Cover with 1/4 inch soil. When plants are 4 inches high, thin.
Large, bushy plants with neat, smooth leaves are excellent to use as low hedges or as temporary shrubs. Resists city smoke and grime. Especially nice for evening fragrance.
